New Riding Mower = dream come true |

I'm not quite sure this is the place to post this, so excuse me if I've not put it in the correct spot.
Last summer, I had to have surgery on my right hip. I can still get around alright but I don't have the longevity on my feet I once did. This has been a concern for me, since I have a large yard and enjoy doing work out in it. Up until this point, I've mowed my own yard with a pushmower for as far back as I can remember. I wasn't really interested in paying someone to come and do my lawn for me. My kids live all over the place and have their own lives and I didn't want to burden them. My first thought was to sell and move into a condo but I knew that I would go stir crazy if I did. Then I started to look into riding mowers. When my first grandchild was born, I made the decision to start living a greener lifestyle so that she may have a planet as beautiful as the one I had...and riding mowers are the antithesis of that. Most are giant, fume spewing monsters that rumble and roar. I tried many and not only was I not pleased with what I saw but they were also causing me pain in my replaced hip. Needless to say, when spring finally rolled around this year, I was distraught. I thought I was going to have to get someone in to do it for me and I just was not happy with the idea.
Then I saw a commercial on the Weather Channel for this Recharge Mower and it sounded perfect. I did a little looking around "online" to see whatever was being said about it and found a lot of happy folks. I was hesitant to order something I've never used or seen before but the one time cost was already cheaper then what it was going to cost to have someone come in and do my yard for me for a season(to be honest, I figured if I didn't like it, I could just sell it anyway).
It took a couple weeks. When it arrived, I almost immediately took it out to see the results...and they were outstanding.
There's no engine in it and that means:
1. no fumes or exhausts
2. Very big noise reduction
3. None of that rumbling that was hurting my hip.
Not only that but there are a ton of other great things. The seat on it is huge and incredibly comfortable and it's positioned in such a way that it makes reaching all the controls easy and it requires very little effort.
Honestly, it's like it was built for someone with my problem.
Now the most important part: It cuts like a dream. My lawn has never looked so great.
I'm not one to jump on the internet and just start talking about something unless I think it's a life changer...and the Recharge Mower has certainly been that for me.
Has anyone else tried it? What do you think? |

Hi Sal,
Do you find that the mower will actually mow for 3 hours? It just doesn't seem possible that that a 38 amp hour battery system could hold out for that long with 3 900 watt motors pulling current.
I was very excited when I first found out about this mower, but too many of the web posts I've found on various forums sound like a commercial for the mower, not like someone who is an actual user.
It's understandable that the company is trying to get the word out about the mower, but frankly without some kind of objective review, I have real doubts.
Honestly, nobody wants this to be true more than I do, but I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this. It would completely be worth the price to me if it will perform as advertised, but with no satisfaction guarantee, it could also be a very expensive mistake if it's just hype.

Hi Lorax,
Old thread I know, but also finding it very hard to get the truth "behind" this product. RechargeMower G1-RM10
eg.
1)
It all sounds too good to be true as the unit uses x3 36V 38Amp hour batteries made by Fujian WanGuo Development Co. China which will not add up to 3 hours of mowing! 900W x2 and either a 500W or 900W drive motor - old electricians do the math and you will see, plus you can't run the batteries to 0%.
2)
Cutting motors are x2 900W = 1.2Hp each, DC motors have maximum torque at 0 RPM.
2.4 HP for a 27" cut! Or 1.2HP per 14"blade - I would like to see that cut on my buffalo grass
It Overloads stalls a 18" 3.5 Hp Mower - So now have large petrol mower with the biggest Honda engine I can find.
3)
Look VERY carefully at where the rear discharge port is on the mower
(Ever SEEN a lawnmower fill a catcher from the bottom up ?) Never!
4)
The claim of cents per cut is bogus as the costly batteries will wear out (even faster if you don't recharge after cutting and on a regular basis)
So lets be good and say domestically 5 years at $500.
So you are NOT going to SAVE anything!
However you will do your Health good and produce less pollution so it's not all bad.
5)
What exactly was the 3 years in development out of a Canadian apartment? Hechtman, Allan INDIVIDUAL CANADA 311-50 Michener Road Chatham CANADA N7L4T2 - see Google earth.
The colour scheme? the trademark? the accessories?
Without a non biased or genuine reviews of this product
(I have not seen one person complain about the lack of cutting power in thick grass or WET grass) it's impossible to know how this product will really work.
Heck I too could set up an apartment (office) in a Chatham CANADA
like Mr Hartman, organise a glossy infomercial and arrange a logistics company for distribution 1130E.WATSON CENTER ROAD CARSON CA 90745 US and then organise as many positive press releases and what appears to be overly positive "fake product forum reviews".
OS in Australia Tandem Power is selling a similar unit Albeit in the Chinese original RED colour for less$, Interestingly that unit has a 500W drive motor and SMALLER cutting diameters, so point 2 must be an issue!
The Mower Model No. : XCZ45-ED is actually made by Zhongxing Co.,Ltd see http://www.cnzhongxing.cn/products.asp?cid=2
1.Wheel Diameter : 13inch
2.Cutting Height : 30mm (Lowest ) , 90mm (Topmost) 3.Blade length: 650 mm
4.Battery : 36V/38Ah ( maintenance free lead acid battery )
5.Volume of the grass box : 90 liter
6.Recharge time: 10-12 Hours
7.Operating time: 2 Hours
8.Mowing capacity per charge: 3,000sqm
9.Carton size : 1180x 660 x 700mm
10.N.W.: 125kgs
11.G.W.: 135kgs
12.Qty/20' FCL: 45 PCS
13.Qty/40' FCL: 90 PCS
14.Certification : CE
15.Minimum order : 45 PCS
16.Delivery time : Receive deposit last 15 days inner
If they fix Item 2-3 and quote a more realistic mowing time of 1 to 1-1/2 hours (Australian site Tandem power quotes 2 hours) I would then risk buying one for our application.
I really like the products idea - perfect size, low maintenance, but the exuberant claims don't stack up for the moment.
So for me it be a pipe dream ...... until it's sorted.
PS if you buy one and it doesn't suit - imagine what you will sell it for second hand - could be financially costly. |
